Heartland Cavalier Kennels is located in southern Indiana.
(USA) 10 Years ago, we imported Cavaliers that conform to the written Breed
Standard from some of the United Kingdom's top show kennels. The Sanickro,
Salador, Kindrum and Pamedna bloodlines are what our Heartland Cavaliers are
based on. And, all of our original imports are still living!! They are healthy,
happy, looking great and arent currently suffering from heart disease!!
After careful research, we felt these lines are superior to most.
These
bloodlines have been recognized worldwide for many, many years -- for winning
top honors in the show rings in several countries and being able to reproduce
generations of healthy, beautiful dogs that exemplify the breed standard. These
are the kind of dogs that produce super nice pet puppies also. We understand
not everyone is interested in a show career for their dog. So, we
willingly place puppies as pets. We just ask that you neuter them and leave the
serious breeding to us. We test our breeding dogs for health problems and keep
well informed of medical news and advances that pertain to our beloved breed as
a whole. For more information on health issues go to
www.aboutcavalierhealth.com.
We are founding members
of the "Charitable Trust Fund" for Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, an
organization helping fund medical research for certain health concerns
regarding our breed. Because we are a serious show kennel that presents well
groomed, conformationally correct dogs to the The American Kennel Club judges
for competition, our dogs have been invited to be breed examples for a National
Parent Breed Club Judges Education Seminar. These seminars teach new and
aspiring judges about the dynamics of what our standard is all about. Just take
a look at our Champion Jake

AKC Ch. Sanickro Especially Made at Heartland "Jake" Top
Ten 98 99, Top Five 2000 Retired #4 in USA 2000 Jake
was shown by professional handler, Michael Scott. Michaels partner is
Michelle Ostmiller who won BEST IN SHOW AT WESTMINSTER two years in a row. You
probably saw her on TV with the Newfoundland and a German Shorthair Pointer.
Jakes sire is considered one of the most influential sires in
the history of our breed. He sired Jake at age eleven. His photo is
frequently seen in books. Hes considered a household name in our
breed.
More tidbits about our puppies: Our puppies are pampered 24
hours a day, 7 days a week. Puppies don't leave our home until they are 8 weeks
of age. We feel very strongly that a puppy needs to be correctly socialized
with it's mom and littermates as well as its breeder as much as possible
to encourage a proper sweet, gentle, well rounded temperament when it becomes
an adult in your household. We use certain daily hands on
techniques from birth until the time the puppy leaves us. Our 8 wk olds are
sleeping through the night and many new owners have reported that our puppies
get housetrained in about three weeks! We enjoy keeping in touch with new
owners--for the life of the dog!
People who have bought puppies years
ago from us are coming back for another baby to join their home. In 10 years of
breeding, we havent had a puppy returned to us because the owner was
unhappy with it. We have a great reputation. Interested parties may correspond
with us over the email system or by personal phone calls. We ship worldwide and
have sent puppies to many happy owners that would be glad to offer you a
reference.
Our Breeding Philosophy: Responsible breeders don't
breed their dogs unless they are convinced that their knowledge, experience,
and dedication to their chosen breed will result in a mating that will produce
an outstanding litter with qualities that are as close as possible to the
written "Breed Standard" as outlined by their National Parent Breed Club. Their
goal is to breed to preserve and to enhance the characteristics that make their
breed very unique. In summary, they breed to improve not for profit.
